Chi Gung: Help for living well thru tense times

In my last post I mentioned the planetary forces pulling us in opposite directions in the late spring and summer of 2010, Uranus urging change amidst upheavals in traditional structures and the earth itself, and Saturn energizing resistance to change. If you are one of many folks feeling pulled in opposite directions, learning to use simple chi gung exercises can be an immense help.

Chi exercises can be as simple as holding your hands outstretched, palms upward, drawing in the electric energy from the sky, then turning your palms downward to draw in the magnetic energy of the earth. You can raise your hands above your head, palms downward, to direct the balanced electromagnetic energy downward through your body. You can also extend your palms outward in front of you, slowly pulling energy toward you and then pressing it from you. This is a way to harmonize your energy, balancing yin (inward) with yang (outward) energy. Harmonizing our subtle body energy in this way can help tune our minds and hearts to harmonize the pulls from competing interests in our lives: “As within, so without: as without, so within” is a variation on the classical hermetic law of “As above, so below”. Usually, external conflicting forces in our lives have a parallel within us. For example, balancing the demands of home and work, both external, can be aided by balancing the outward, achievement oriented, active and assertive part of us with the inward, yielding, nurturing energy within us.
